After the publication of the long-suppressed pictures of Abu Ghraib victims and the United Nations finding that torture and abuse are still taking place at the US prison in Guantánamo Bay, America has fashioned its own nightmare. We now must ask ourselves, `Where are the good Americans?´”

So beginnt ein Artikel aus der amerikanischen Oppositionszeitschrift „The Nation“, der hier fortgesetzt wird.

Wobei man Hitlerdeutschland und die gegenwärtigen USA natürlich nicht vergleichen kann. Aus den Konzentrationslagern gab es keine Fotos, über die sich jeder über die Greuel informieren konnte, der nur bereit dazu war. Wer heute die Hände in den Schoß legt oder die Regierung Bush gar noch unterstützt, kann sich auf eines garantiert nicht berufen: auf Unwissenheit wegen mangelnder Informationsmöglichkeiten in einer Diktatur.
